My wife and I have tried to make dinner reservations through your website as well as over the telephone. We are local Las Vegans and would like to dine at the steakhouse in the near future. After repeated phone calls and searching on the website to make these reservations we are rethinking this action. Don’t you have the facilities to do this kind of thing? We are locals and as frustrated as we are right now cannot imagine how it seems to tourists. It is almost as if you are undermining the process on purpose. We may just go to the Bellagio for dinner as it seems like you do not want our business in your establishment. Had we not already have purchased tickets to your main show we would go somewhere else for our entertainment as well.

In regard to booking a dinner reservation at Bally’s Steakhouse, I was sorry to hear of the trouble you experienced. Unfortunately, we do not offer online reservations, however, by visiting our website www.ballyslasvegas.com, you will find the Reservations phone number to book at the steakhouse. You mentioned that you made several phone calls in doing so. I called the number myself, which is (702) 967-7999, so that I cold try and make a reservation on your behalf, and went through the prompting system and was able to connect to a representative. I was told that in order to book a dinner reservation, they do require a credit card to secure the reservation. In addition, they can book at least a couple of months in advance.

This Arizona law was passed because our ineffective government has sat on their hands afraid to light the fuse on this political bomb. Unfortunately those who are suffering are the citizenry at large. We absolutely need to take control of this situation and NOT because they are taking our jobs, using our medical facilities or any of that selfish crap. We need to take control because these people are trespassing on our soil. They are here illegally, they did not come through with papers nor did they even sign up to do that they came here, are you ready? ILLEGALLY!!!!! 

The border of Arizona has become a battleground. Those who deny this have not read the news lately. Our country is under siege and we must stop this now. Sure there are docile folks coming across to find work in the land of milk and honey but there are evil forces who undeniably know where and when they can come across too.  We have allowed people to violate the law for so long that they are beginning to feel entitled to be on our land. The criminals know they can cross back and forth without a care. Our ineffective border guards allow it and in some instances condone it.

Bleeding hearts and the pseudo-freedom fighting ACLU would have us believe that we OWE these trespassers something because they are just human beings, WE DO NOT! We should take all the American sympathizers and line the borders with them to enforce our existing laws.(we really do have laws against this type thing) While they are there the illegals who are here can stay in their vacated homes. Let’s send a delegation of Senators and Congressmen to the front line also. Have them stand on the ranches bordering Mexico and see what is really happening down there. See the frustrating circumstance that taxpaying Americans deal with daily. Perhaps seeing elected individuals duck and cover would open liberal eyes
to this problem. Once they can see that these are not all just gardeners and maids but drug runners and criminals the tune could change. Perhaps not, perhaps the liberals are so in denial that they might be wrong here that this action would only solidify their resolve to give our country away. Perhaps watching a family member or fellow protester brutally murdered by a cartel member wouldn’t faze them at all.  I would certainly hope not.

The law in Arizona may or may not be a perfect answer but it is an answer. Yes, it’s not an answer crafted by the smooth talking Washington attorneys we have elected to protect our freedoms but by a small portion of freedom fighters who say they have had enough. Isn’t that the same way our country was founded?

The United Kingdom, as a welfare state, was prefigured in the William Beveridge Report in 1942, which identified five “Giant Evils” in society: squalor, ignorance, want, idleness and disease.

Clement Attlee’s 1945 Labour government pledged to eradicate these Evils. The government undertook measures in policy to provide for the people of the United Kingdom “from the cradle to the grave.”

This policy resulted in massive expenditure and a great widening of what was considered to be the state’s responsibility. In addition to the central services of Education, Health, Unemployment and sickness allowances and so on, the welfare state included the idea of increasing redistributive taxation, increasing regulation of industry food and housing (better safety regulations, “weights and measures” controls etc.)

The Welfare State was a commitment to health (in 1948 the National Health Service was created), education, employment and social security.

However the initial foundation of the National Health Service did not involve building new hospitals but merely the nationalisation of existing municipal and charitable foundations. The aim was not to substantially increase provision but to standardise care across the country; indeed Beveridge believed that the overall cost of medical care would decrease, as people became more healthy and so needed less treatment. Instead the cost increased dramatically, leading to severe financial problems, and charges (for dentures, spectacles and prescriptions) were introduced in 1951 – by the same Labour government that had founded the NHS just three years earlier. Despite this, the principle of health care “free at the point of use” became a central part of the idea of the welfare state, which later governments critical of the welfare state were unable to reverse. The classic Welfare State period lasted from approximately 1945 to the 1970s, when policies under Thatcherism began to privatise public institutions, although many features of it remain today. This includes, but is not limited to, compulsory National Insurance contributions, and the provision of old age pensions.
